Hotel Review | The Langham London
London has to be my favorite city in the world. I have been going once or twice a year since my sister in law moved there three years ago. The Langham is the fourth hotel I have tried out in London, and I have to say it’s the best one yet.
Ronnie and I booked this trip to London only a week before boarding the fight. Boutique hotel options were all sold out in the areas we were open to staying, so we chose the Langham purely for its connectivity and location. We were a bit worried after our last stay at another posh Mayfair hotel (a day-of choice after an Airbnb fiasco + another boutique hotel sold out situation) that we would have the same stuffy experience and again be the youngest ones staying there by about 25 years. I have to say The Langham completely changed our minds from the minute we walked in the door. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional without having a “better than you” attitude.
I didn't initially plan to do a hotel review during this trip, but I was so impressed by The Langham after a couple of days I knew had to share it with you. The Langham experience was everything a luxury stay should be at an incredible value compared to other luxury properties in central London. I typically go for a boutique luxury hotel instead of an older five star because the staff usually doesn’t have an attitude, there are more people my age staying there, and the rooms often have extra unique details. The Langham had all of those things plus the impeccably trained staff you only get at a luxury hotel with a long and prestigious heritage.
SUPERIOR DOUBLE ROOM
The room styling was very tranquil and classic, featuring neutral beiges and whites. I usually like more modern styling rooms, but the neutral styling made it calming to come back to our room after a long day exploring the city. I found it so relaxing that I would love to stay here again. For a hotel with such a long history, the rooms feel fresh, current, and timeless.
I also liked that the incorporate tiny pops of baby pink around the room and the rest of the hotel. It was just enough to give a little something special without overwhelming the overall design.
The maid service for the room was exceptional. The maid noticed I left a necklace out on the bedside table and added a jewelry tray to use throughout my stay. There is a turndown service in the evening where they put out your slippers and tidy up the room. I also liked that they used Langham branded straps to tidy our phone charges, so the wires weren’t everywhere.
The only thing that could have been better is the brand of bath products. I wasn’t a big fan of them, but they weren’t the worst either.
Desk with a chair
Armchair in the corner (Perfect for anyone like me who tries on five outfits before walking out the door and needs a chair to toss the garments that didn’t cut it.)
Multiple outlets above the desk to fit different plugs and voltages around the world
A full-length mirror on the inside of the closet door so you can see your entire outfit before leaving
Comfortable bed and pillows
Heated towel rack
Free waters with daily maid service and again at turndown service
Lighting options for dim and bright lights so you can set the lighting to your preference
Stationary inside the desk
“Do not disturb” and “maid service” buttons
Clean and well maintained overall
Spacious for the price and location
There are several venues for food and drinks in The Langham including 24-hour room service. I usually do not eat in the hotel when I travel to major cities like London or New York, because I like to explore the restaurants around the city. Ronnie and I love going for teas when we visit London, so we did go for The Langham high tea with Wedgwood during our stay. The tea was the perfect Brittish high tea experience with a range of delicious teas to choose from, a posh but inviting environment, and impeccable service. They can make the experience gluten free including the scones! I highly recommend checking it out during your stay here.
I did not try the spa, but I wanted to include this section because The Langham has a full spa with a pool. Pools are quite rare in London hotels, so I thought this was worth a mention in case you are looking for one.
The Langham has a well-connected concierge who can help you get a reservation at the hottest restaurants and clubs. We wanted to go for a drink at an upscale, trendy nightclub, and he called and put us on the guest list with free entry. I highly recommend using their concierge services to make your London trip extra special.
The hotel is also in a prime location for shopping, dining, and walking around the beautiful streets. You can walk to Selfridges, Soho, or Mayfair in under 10 minutes.
The tube station is about a three-minute walk from the hotel so you can quickly get to any sites you want to see around the city.
